The Drift

Mendocino is a tiny town on the coast of California. Its coastline is breathtaking. In one tiny area of beach were coves, caves, cliffs, holes, tunnels, rocky moonscapes, marshes, natural steps, and more.  Despite the harsh weather, it is the type of space you can spend all day exploring without going very far at all.

This humongous driftwood–as long as it looks, and the left piece wide enough to put both my feet on–might even be redwood, having floated in from a nearby lumber mill.

  1. Redwood on the beach–that must have been some sight. Well done.

  2. When I lived in San Francisco for several years when I was your age I used to love to go to up to Mendocino County … the coast there always reminded me of what I thought the English coast would be like if I ever got there … which I still haven’t! Nice job, Marcie.
